Linus Pauling

Linus grew up in Oregon and loved to line up little balls to see how tiny atoms fit together.

He figured out the shapes molecules make, which helped everyone understand chemistry better.

He also worried about the danger of huge bombs called nuclear weapons.

So he asked leaders all around the world to please stop testing them.

He won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry AND the Nobel Peace Prize — nobody else has ever done that alone.
