Two friends who walked all the way across America to see what was there.
The Story
President Jefferson asked Meriwether Lewis and William Clark to explore the West.
They packed canoes, notebooks, and a very good dog named Seaman.
Along the way, a young Shoshone woman named Sacagawea joined and guided them.
They drew maps, learned new words, and met plants and animals they had never seen.
Two winters later, they finally reached the Pacific Ocean — and came all the way home.
