Elinor Ostrom

Elinor grew up asking a big question: how do neighbors share things fairly?

She traveled the world watching villages share water, fish, forests, and fields.

She found that when people talk with each other and make their own rules, they can share very well.

That was a big, hopeful idea — and it surprised a lot of grown-ups.

In 2009 she became the very first woman ever to win the Nobel Prize in Economics.
