A very sad day when Americans came together to help each other.
The Story
On a bright blue Tuesday morning in 2001, a group of people who wanted to hurt America took over four airplanes.
They crashed into big buildings in New York City and near Washington, D.C.
It was one of the saddest days America has ever had, and many brave people were lost.
But something amazing happened too: firefighters, doctors, and everyday people ran TOWARD the danger to help.
Today, two soft blue beams of light shine up into the sky every September 11 to remember the kindness of that day.
