The Tea in the Harbor

Long ago, the king across the ocean put a special tax on tea — every cup cost extra just because he said so.

The colonists in Boston did not think that was fair, because they had no say in the king's rules.

So one chilly December night, a group of them tiptoed down to the harbor where three big ships full of tea were waiting.

They climbed aboard and — splash! splash! splash! — dumped 342 wooden crates of tea straight into the water.

The whole harbor smelled like a giant cup of tea in the morning, and the king was very, very cross.
