The Harbor Closes

After the Boston Tea Party, the king was so angry that Parliament passed a bunch of new rules to punish Boston.

The colonists called them the 'Intolerable Acts' — which just means 'we cannot stand these.'

The worst one closed Boston Harbor: no ships were allowed in or out until the colonists paid for every crate of ruined tea.

Fish stopped coming in, food got scarce, and shopkeepers had nothing to sell.

But instead of scaring the other colonies, the punishment made them angry too — and they started sending food and money to help Boston.
