As a boy, he built tiny puppet theaters and sewed little costumes.
When he grew up, he wrote fairy tales — about mermaids, ducklings, and princesses.
The Little Mermaid, The Ugly Duckling, and The Snow Queen all came from him.
His stories are read in nearly every language on Earth.
