Muhammad Ali

Muhammad grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, and started boxing at twelve after someone stole his bike.

He danced around the ring like a butterfly and hit like a bee.

He won a gold medal at the Olympics and became world heavyweight champion three times.

He was brave outside the ring too, standing up for peace and for civil rights.

In 1996 he lit the giant Olympic torch, his hands shaking but his heart huge.
