The Story
Katharine was a college teacher who loved to travel.
One summer she rode a wagon to the top of Pikes Peak in Colorado.
The view of purple mountains and golden fields took her breath away.
She scribbled a poem in her notebook right there.
That poem became 'America the Beautiful,' the song everyone still sings today.
