Chief Joseph led the Nez Perce people in the beautiful valleys of Idaho and Oregon.

When soldiers tried to move his people away, he led them on a long, brave journey toward safety.

For over a thousand miles he protected the elders and children.

When it was over, he made a famous speech saying 'I will fight no more forever.'

He spent the rest of his life asking America to keep its promises.
