The Shot Heard 'Round the World

The very next morning after Paul Revere's ride, the sun came up over the tiny town of Lexington.

A small group of farmers called Minutemen stood on the village green, waiting with their muskets.

The king's soldiers marched in with their red coats bright in the mist, and no one is quite sure who fired first.

But 'BANG!' — a single shot rang out, and soon the fight moved to a little stone bridge in the next town over, Concord.

People called it 'the shot heard 'round the world,' because that tiny 'bang' was the start of America becoming a country.
