The Midnight Ride

A silversmith named Paul Revere lived in Boston and kept his ears open for trouble.

One night he heard that the king's soldiers were quietly rowing across the river to surprise his neighbors.

He looked up at the tall church tower and saw two lanterns glowing — that was the secret signal: they were coming by sea!

Paul jumped onto his horse and galloped down dark country roads, knocking on every door: 'The Regulars are coming!'

By sunrise, the whole countryside was awake and ready — all because of one very fast midnight ride.
