Miriam Makeba

Miriam was born in South Africa and started singing as soon as she could talk.

Her voice was warm and strong and made people want to dance and cry.

She sang out against the unfair rules that kept people apart in her country.

For 31 years she wasn't allowed to come home, but her songs kept flying back.

When she finally returned, the whole country sang with her.
