Pearl Harbor

On a quiet Sunday morning in Hawaii, American sailors were just waking up at Pearl Harbor.

Suddenly, planes from Japan appeared in the sky and attacked the ships in the harbor.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt called it 'a date which will live in memory,' and America joined World War II.

All across the country, people worked together — planting gardens, saving metal, and building ships.

For four more years, America and its friends worked to bring peace back to the world.
